Inside The City Sports Africa Easter Cup Tournament: Apex Network’s Role In Building Champions.

With two exciting days of youth football splendor, the CitySports Africa Easter Cup 2025 brought Lagos to life. The city's most talented young players lit up the pitch in a much-anticipated youth competition that drew spectators and created lasting memories.

We don’t just trade gift cards at Apex Network; we go above and beyond to nurture young talent by partnering with brands that share the same goals.

In a celebration of talent, collaboration, and community building, the CitySports League hosted a competition featuring youth teams from Nigeria and beyond in three age groups: U9, U12, and U15.

In addition to the games, the Easter Cup offered fun side events, opportunities for community building, and a welcoming atmosphere for families, all of which helped attendees make unforgettable memories.

As a leader in digital wallet solutions, our commitment to innovation and growth aligns perfectly with CitySport’s Africa mission to equip the next generation not only on the pitch but also in life. This partnership has shown that when technology meets youth sports, transformation happens in mindset, leadership, and opportunity.

Mr Gbenga Ogunbiyi, the Head of Brands and Marketing for Apex, said, “Today is not just about football—it’s about community, growth, harnessing of talent, and giving every child a chance to shine.

At the Apex Network, we value giving back to the community to foster growth and development.

CitySports Africa is dedicated to providing platforms for young athletes to develop, compete, and succeed both domestically and globally, and through the CitySports League, it continues to champion youth development through sports.

Opaleye added that the company is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that every African child is given the right opportunity to showcase their talents and fulfil their dreams in life. ”In the past five years, we have been focusing on the correct route to develop sports, leadership, and academic skills because these are the basic three skills every child needs to attain their potential as they grow up.”

“Our vision is to contribute immensely to our quota to the development of sports in the country and beyond, to give every child the right environment and the playing field to achieve their dreams.

“We have three success stories of students doing great in their craft after going through CitySports developmental programmes: Osaze, a 14-year-old footballer who is currently with Arsenal. Duke is doing well at Hull City U-19, while one of our products is in the Super Falconets,” Shola Opaleye, CEO of City Sports Africa, said.

We also had the opportunity to engage with the foremost sports photojournalist in Nigeria, Mr. Sulaiman Adebayo, popularly known as Pooja.
